  1. HOMEMADE. Now I use primarily Coffee Bean coffee. I worked at Starbucks 6 years and Coffee Bean 7 1/2 years. Coffee Bean has a much more superior product (all) but if you like a bold kick in the ass coffee, Starbucks is definitely the way to go.

  2. That’s a tough one. I love my K-cups. Although three times in my life i have had the best cup of coffee in the world. First was at the Sheraton in Boxboro Massachusetts. The next two times were actually at McDonald’s. Both in Phoenix Arizona. To answer your question, at present i would have to say home. That being back in Massachusetts. Where there’s a Dunkin’s on every corner in case i run out.

  3. I can’t stand straight black coffee.
For my sweet creamy coffee drinks, such as frappes, I prefer McDonald’s. I don’t trust myself to try to make them at home.

  4. Honestly, Mickey D’s has some great coffee. If I don’t have a way to brew it hot while I’m out and about, it’s a great option. Plus it’s cheaper than Dunkin Donuts: which was my go-to until a recent move to the west coast.

  5. Homemade is always better. There is nothing like it, except for businesses that make it with that quality.
Starbucks (“Charbucks”) burns their beans to hell
McDonalds can’t even provide real cream for your coffee. To them it has to have sodium citrate and sodium benzoate in it.
Dunkin donuts coffee I am not familiar with

  6. Without question, I prefer McDonald’s coffee over Starbucks or homemade. I’ve never had a Dunkin Donuts’ coffee. It would have to be really good to top McDonald’s!!

  7. I would have to go with the choice of home brewed coffee over leaving the house and driving for store brewed. I am retired and have the time to do it properly at home. I would also be looking forward to it the entire time. Everyone else in the house would be waking up and smelling the coffee. I might throw a hard peppermint candy in and stir it…

  8. If I’m drinking straight black coffee, I have that at home. When I’m with my mother, she always wants Dunkin’ Donuts. Myself, when I go to Starbucks it’s a different type of drink I’m getting not coffee.

  9. So, I don’t drink plain black coffee. I always have cream in it.
There are lots of Starbucks close to me so that would be my first choice. At home I brew coffee almost daily and it’s nice to have coffee brewed somewhere else for variety.
I can’t think of any reason to be in Dunkin’ Donuts (do they have anything healthy there) and I’d only be in McDonald’s in case of dire straits, like that was the only food available (although someone told me they have salads now).

  10. I don’t enjoy most coffees except espressos that are strong and bitterish…all other coffee seems tepid in flavour.
Having said that, none of the above make decent tasting or decently brewed espressos.

  11. Homemade is ideal, because you can choose your blend, measure it to how much you want, brew it how you want, etc. When out, I choose Starbucks because it’s fresh and strong. I always get the dark roast of the day…black.

  12. For years I was a big fan of Dunkin’ Donuts, but there not as many here in Thailand. I do like Starbucks, but again, not many near me, and expensive.
McDonald’s, again, none in my area.
I like to buy mountain grown coffee beans from Huay Hom in Mae Hong Son province to grind and brew at home. They are one of Starbucks suppliers.

  13. The answer will differ depending on where you live.
In the UK where I live dunking donuts is not here … so I don’t know it to compare.
Starbucks uses espresso machines and fresh made coffee every time. Fresh ground beans steamed under pressure.
McD uses a different machine but a similar method (fresh ground beans steamed under pressure).
In the UK Starbucks makes the more expensive cup, but McD is quite acceptable.
I was horrified with how awful the coffee was served in Starbucks…it is MUCH better here.
At home I have a similar machine and choose my own beans. So my coffee at home is tailored to my exact taste.
    Home it is.

  14. My preferences and reasons for them are as follows:
Homemade . Assuming I have selected the brand and roast of coffee. If someone else has, it may or may not be good. Also, assuming it is not made with a Kurig. Kurig machines seem to be able to mess up even the best coffee. Preferably made with a commercial grade Bunn coffee maker or an old school peculator.
McDonald’s . McDonald’s coffee is my go to when on the road. It is good and it is consistent.
Dunkin’ Donuts . I actually do not know what Dunkin’ Donuts coffee tastes like since there are not any within hundreds of miles of where I live. Since there were only the 4 choices, however, the unknown flavor of Dunkin’ Donuts ends up here in spot 3.
Starbucks . I have to be extremely desperate for caffeine to force myself to consume this swill. I have never been able to understand how this chain got popular. I have to assume that they had some level of advertising in the US similar to what made Tim Horton’s popular here in Canada.

  15. I’ve always hated the taste of black coffee. As far as coffee with a lot of creamer in it, I’d say Dunkin since there’s the most variety there.

  16. I enjoy the coffee-making ritual, so homemade. For me that’s generally an using an Aeropress or moka pot to brew up a medium-dark or dark roast of whatever looks interesting at the roastery that week.

  17. When I am on the road, I always stop at McDonald’s for coffee. I’m not a fan of DD or Starbucks. When given a choice, I always brew at home and take a travel mug with me.
I only drink my coffee Hot, Black, and Bitter. The only thing I add to my coffee is more coffee.

  19. Among the major national chains I prefer Starbucks but in general it’s fairly easy to beat the quality of Starbucks in store coffee by purchasing higher quality beans, either from Starbucks itself from their Reserve collection or from the numerous companies specializing in selling high end whole beans.

  20. Depends on the person, really, and the coffee, too. If we’re talking cold brew, I’ll take Dunkin’ or homemade; if we’re talking hot coffee, exclusively homemade, because most coffee is too bitter for me to drink black and hot.

  21. First thing in the morning, definitely my own coffee straight black, made at home in my Keurig. Later on, if I want to be around people, I’ll go to my local Starbucks.
Dunkin and McDonald’s don’t have real coffee in my book. It’s like making love in a canoe…they’re all effing close to water….

  22. None of the above.
Black coffee is disgusting, to me, no matter who makes it.
I love lattes and fraps. I’ll drink a latte anytime. Black coffee? Thanks but no thanks.

  23. Me? Afoot, no phone? Well then let’s roll on the homemade straight black coffee! Actually, been there, done that, got the tee- shirt. Let’s play “ make a list; 1; Dunkin’ Donuts – for price. 2; Starbucks – for ambience. 3; Homemade straight black coffee– cause I got the time, and I can do it in my underwear ( it’s a casual thing of mine).4;McDonalds– cause there’s always one around ( and good for people watching). So, that’s my choice s, (unless I get a “ wild hair”, and feel like sumthin different, which has been known to happen) . Hope this helps.
