They were the first.
The first to carry gourmet coffee beans, among other things, a coffee shop before Starbucks. The first to have a little bit of everything, at every price point.
The first to put essentially a high end food court in their store. It’s all their own food. Sub shop. Chinese. Full course meals! Beef, poultry, fish. Sides. Salads . And just head right over to the homemade dessert shop! Fresh baked bread. Fish market. Cheese shop. I have seen seven different grades of smoked salmon. You know I just had to try a bit of the highest end. Melted in my mouth!
When I moved to North Carolina to marry, my husband wondered the same thing. What was this Wegmans he saw hit the credit card every trip North. It took one visit. They catered our small wedding!
Wegmans treats their employees well, and always have. They were the first to offer healthy recipes, cooking classes…. They give every impression of actually caring about their employees and customers.
They are smart too. They move into markets that can afford them.
It’s a family owned company and like most big businesses, that’s not usually the case. I believe the family feel flows into everything that Wegmans is and does.
They truly care about their employees, customers and communities. I know we all have worked for companies that offer the complete opposite.
They offer constant opportunities for advancement, they persistently work to develop and train their people and the environment is happy, and upbeat.
The products, quality and prices are undoubtedly the best.
It’s the best place I’ve ever worked; I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at Wegmans.
It’s just fantastic.
Everything and anything you could want, they have.
Vegan, gluten free, organic, ethnic, high-end food (think USDA Prime cut meats, like $30+ a pound!), the thousands products they offer under one roof is amazing.
Their subs are huge and the best.
They package chicken breasts and other meats into portioned out packs, so all you have to do is cut them apart and throw them in the freezer, no mess or fuss.
Their deli seasoned roast beef is better than any other deli meat I’ve ever had.
It’s a little more expensive and always busy (full of ‘Orchard Park Housewives’ *eye roll*), but if you aren’t in a huge hurry, it’s worth it.
It is not head and shoulders above the next best one in town and they tend to put them in affluent areas. Seems to be a better employment situation but they want you to work.
