Why is it that when I drink coffee my hair is noticeably thinner and weaker the next day? I shed much more hair when having only one cup of coffee. How can this be prevented while still being able to drink coffee?

You can check the answer of the people under the question at Quora “does coffee make your hair fall out

  1. The connection between the two is actually quite the opposite. Caffeine goes through your bloodstream and stimulates your hair folicles, then increases hair growth (caffeine is actually used to treat hair loss), on an actual chemical level, well, I’m not a chemist, just an addict so I couldn’t tell you that
There could be generic/other factors that change it (metabolism, tolerance, etc etc), but it’s most likely just all in your head

  2. Coffee causes baldness because of several factors. PH is 5.5 putting stress on body. It stimulates androgens. It stresses adrenals which makes body produce more cortisol. All this leads to excess sebum production, particularly in males which clogs the hair follicle pore with hardened gunk & slowly strangles the hair production.

  3. Coffee constricts our blood vessels. Hence the blood flow to the scalp is very poor, this inturn leads to poor blood circulation which causes hair thinning. Don’t believe any nonsense which says like “coffee stimulates hair growth” Coffee strips off the vitamins and minerals needed for your hair. If you want strong hair quit caffeine.

  4. Caffeine triggers stress and anxiety which can cause hair loss. Caffeine can also be harmful to your nervous system. Try drinking it black. You will tend to not need as much.

  5. First of all you notice thinner and weaker hair NEXT DAY ?? NOTHING works that fast ! Changes in hair structure may take minimum 1–2 months to appear. So it may just be your imagination because nothing can digest, disolve in your blood and reach your head hair folicals that fast to make your hair shed just next day.
Regarding you asked, caffeine can induce stress and so to reduce stress you can drink or eat things that has antioxidant in it. For eg. Green tea, Tulsi leaves tablet etc.

  6. I’m not sure exactly what’s going on, but considering the coffee has no way of reaching your hair all I can think of is that the coffee is impacting your scalp sebum or similar. Putting oil or conditioner in your hair might reverse the effect. Coconut oil seems particularly good for skin so maybe it will help with your hair as well.
