  1. I personally think the taste of decaf coffee is inferior to the taste of coffee that hasn’t been decaffeinated. Something about the process alters the taste in an undesirable way, significantly. At best, altered ever-so-slightly, and the resulting brew tastes slightly deflavorized, neutered. But still drinkable.
The tradeoffs are with it, however, if a person is in a situation where they really want the taste of coffee, but need to avoid caffeine.

  2. I think people that drink decaf are drinking it because it doesn’t have caffeine. They’re avoiding it for any number of reasons. Could be health related, where their heart can’t handle the increased stress.

  3. Many people like the taste of coffee, but can’t have caffeine, especially older patients with high blood pressure or heart attack patients. Many decaf coffees don’t taste as strong as the caffeinated version. For some people sensitive to caffeine, the amount of caffeine in decaf is enough to give them a pick me up.
