  1. The hot water sits there longer in contact with the coffee grounds.
I use the drip method and 2 filters slow down the passage of the water.
There is also the side-effect that filters reduce cholesterol.

  2. Two filters result in longer contact time for the hot water with the coffee grounds. Thus extracting more of the coffee flavors etc.

  3. Stronger means here ‘more flavor from the coffee bean brewed’ it would seem. Some beans with a lighter roast may taste something other than ‘strong’ even with 2 filters.

  4. Because it makes the coffee more concentrated by taking time to pass through the filter.
The more time it takes to pass through, the stronger kick it is.

  5. Two filters or for that matter a thicker filter slows down the percolation process.
The water effectively has more contact with the coffee grounds and hence extracts more from it. The coffee should be stronger and more bitter as a result.

  6. 2 filters will not make coffee stronger :). Longer brew time will thought :).
2 filters will increase brew time since hot water will be in contact with coffee grounds for longer (need more time to pass 2 filters).
    Hope this helps.
