  1. I assume this happens only when you drink coffee and you urinate normally when you abstain from coffee.
Coffee can make your urine smell because of all the different compounds found within coffee. Caffiene and Coffee in general is a Diuretic, which just means it makes you pee more. Because you pee more, water and other metabolites are excreted faster. It is not uncommon to drink coffee on an empty stomach, feel the urge to pee an hour later, and it smells something like partially burnt tuna. This is just because the coffee you drank was absorbed so quickly, the compounds within coffee are already being metabolized and excreted in your coffee-induced diuretic state, and those metabolites can stink! This should be no cause for alarm because many foods and drinks create stinky, benign metabolites in your urine. Coffee is one of them, but also foods like Asparagus will make your pee stink for example. The diuretic effect of coffee can also possibly make your urine darker if you are not drinking enough water while drinking coffee. Caffiene can easily make you debydrated if you weren’t drinking your 8 cups a day to start with. You need to compensate your excessive water excretion by drinking a little more water, at least 1–2 cups for every cup of coffee you drink, on top of the 64oz you are suppossed to consume over the course of a day. Drinking more water will also help dilute your urine more and lessen the intensity of the stink in your urine, but this comes at the price of having to urinate a lot more.
If still you experience foul smelling, dark urine constantly and have not had a cup of coffee for at least a couple days, this could be an indication of a more serious disorder. You should really talk to a doctor at that point, as well as look for other symptoms around your body.

  2. Google, “ The Coffee Deception: 13 Little Known Facts About Coffee”, and, “Caffeine is Poison – Roger Mason”… ask yourself what “Tuna” is the smell of… answer yourself the DEAD flesh of DEAD tuna fish… now that same smell is coming out of YOU. Ask what is being killed/injured internally? Cells? Intestinal lining? Bladder? Liver? Kidneys? Etc…

  3. You need to go see a doctor. As has been stated urine is not meant to be dark. Also urine should not smell like tuna ever. So I would recommend getting a health check done by your doctor.
