  1. I can’t speak for other coffee, but Starbucks tastes as good as it does because it’s brewed quite strong. The stronger the coffee, the more caffeine and both caffeine and coffee can irritate your stomach lining.
That’s pretty much it – more caffeine, stronger coffee = more potential for stomach pain.

  2. If you are having problems when drinking your best-beloved dark coffee, and that trouble in is your tummy, you may be having what is called indigestion due to strong coffee.
Hot water releases acids from the coffee beans. It is that acidic taste that many of us love the darker roasts.
Cold brewing is recommended. It gives a smooth taste with no afterburn. This is because cold brewing stops the temperature change and the flavor is sealed in. Of course, where do you find cold brewed coffee? Not in Starbucks.
There is also less caffeine in darker roasts. Also, not so good for keeping us awake.
What is the cure, coffee lovers? ALLRECIPIES have a video on how to make cold coffee. Starbucks gives you a video on three ways to make cold coffee and Kitchen Smarts has a video on making cold coffee in a French Press.
And then, there are those of us who slog on with our daily cup of hot caffeinated coffee and cream and eat Altoids.

  3. Two main things probably.
Lactose intolerance . Since you didn’t specify their Americanos and other black coffee you probably are referring to the Starbucks beverages with milk in them. Unless you put in the non-dairy options that’s going to affect people with lactose intolerance. It goes without saying, those without lactose intolerance won’t be affected. Those with, will.
Acidity . Coffee is in general acidic and can cause stomach hyperacidity. People who are more prone to this get affected. Those who aren’t, don’t. The stronger the coffee is brewed, the worse the effect.

  5. Its either the strength of the coffee or the high sugar content. Coffee can have laxative effect, although whether it is coffee or caffeine that causes laxative effects are debatable.
