  1. I am not a doctor and this doesn’t seem like a Quora-appropriate question. I have always heard that stools with a coffee ground appearance was an indicator of some kind of bleeding and could be intestinal, possibly an ulcer, celiac disease, or some other kind of internal problem.
    I would treat it as an emergency and head for an emergency room. If you don’t feel they take it seriously, get a second opinion. Don’t wait and hope it gets better. Good luck.

  3. The “”coffee ground” appearance could be from something the child injested like black berries or dark greens. It could also indicate that blood has passed through the GI system, either from swallowing it (bitten tongue/cheek, busted lip) or from the stomach and/or other upper GI areas.
