  1. As far as I can tell people develop a dependency on it and go through withdrawal if they miss their daily dose. Depending on how you like your coffee it can be more or less addictive. Adding sugar, creamer, flavor, and other things will create a much greater addictive quality.
If you went 48 hours without coffee you would most likely be drained, have a migraine, go through shakes, and eventually have a hang over of sorts. You develop a symbiotic relation with your drug of choice. Some people are addicted to running for the adrenaline or fight or flight response. Coffee is just an easier more taisty addiction that is more socially accepted.

  2. It generally means I have just woken up! I don’t know (or care) if it is a conditioned response or a true addiction craving, but as soon as I start ‘jonesing’ for my morning coffee I know I am truly awake.
My house mates and partners over the years all say if I am not interested in a coffee that means I am sick, asleep or dead! I have also been accused of spoiling ‘cheap’ coffee for some as I have introduced them to good coffee that is about the same cost, just needing a little more effort to source, i.e not ‘Supermarket’ brand but still available at the Supermarket.

  3. Cravings mean you have chemicals in your brain that give you joy just thinking about something. The joy chemical is dopamine and you are addicted, but coffee is a healthy addiction if you don’t let it impact emotions or sleep.

  4. It’s just one of those things we indulge on, like chocolate. You either love it or hate it. I personally love coffee. It is a very stimulating and healthy drink, there are so many benefits to drinking coffee. The aroma itself is so intense it makes you wanna just eat the beans. It’s such a staple for so many people, I just don’t know if people really know how endangered coffee really is. It is best grown in areas called the bean belt. Climate change could very well take away some of the best grown coffee beans we know today. So enjoy your cup, and read where your bean really comes from and how coffee works, it will make you love the bean and the brew so much more. I personally love the Colombian, mmmmm mmmm mmmmmmmmm.
