  1. Since I started roasting, I have primarily purchased green coffee from Burman Coffee Traders, in Madison Wisconsin. Burmans is a father/son operation; Garry and Jon are very personable and eager to help. They source coffee from all over the world, and keep some excellent Mexican and Central American coffees in stock. They also provide helpful roasting and tasting notes for each coffee they sell. Good folks to do business with!

  2. I’ve been ordering from Sweet Maria’s for at least 15 years and have never found a reason to go elsewhere. This is a case where a smaller does not necessarily mean better quality. As SM has grown, Tom is able to source higher quality beans directly from farmers.

  3. When I started roasting in 2010, I found Sweet Maria’s and still highly recommend them. Other online sources that I recommend are Bodhi Leaf, Roastmasters and Klatch.
I currently buy about 85% of my greens through the Green Coffee Buying Club. This is a “closed” web site, so you can’t see anything unless you are a member. All purchasing is done via PayPal, so it requires a high degree of trust in the people you are dealing with.
