I have been to 4 out of the top 5: Biaggis, Trattoria, Antonella’s, and Olive Garden. Out of these, I would give the edge to Biaggis, mainly due to atmosphere, layout, and location. Atmosphere would be why Olive Garden rates #4. However, I have heard good things about Lunardis, and I expect it would be #1 once I made it there based on its menu selections. The other 2 places are smaller, and might compare better to what you would actually see in Italy. I don’t like waiting in line to eat, so that might be a drawback to Lunardis.
The very best and by a wide margin, is right next to Davenport, in Bettendorf, Iowa. It is called Trattoria’s Tiramisu. Fine atmosphere (not fancy). Great for quiet conversation. Wonderful fresh and free crusty bread with olive oil, parm and some balsomic vinegar. Incredible and flat out cheap lunch buffet, but my wife and I order off the menu, split an entre and a desert. The only place near The Quad Cities I will eat any seafood. Think Northern Italian and lighter sauces.
There is another excellent option, near North Park Mall, called Lunardi’s. If you can be seated away from the too brightly lit bar, it too is nice. My wife says they have the best lasagna. That is high praise from one who actually makes the best lasagna. Think Sicilian.
Finally, there is Antonella’s 2. It is located next to The Mississippi River, at what everyone knows as The Old Freight House. They have excellent views of the river both inside and outside seating. I love it because it is next to a local bike path. They have something they call bruschetta bread sticks, but it really is a bruschetta pizza. My wife and I bring the dog, sit outside and share one of those (quite filling). They also have a pretty good calzones.
Now, if you are willing to cross the river, four miles away is FPT Pizza and Subs. Their original calzone is unmatched anywhere in the country and they offer this area’s best actual bruschetta. We share a calzone so we can enjoy the bruschetta.
Want a family meal to take out? Grinders and Speghetti has locations all over The Quad Cities. No one beats their spaghetti and their bread is simply amazing. For about $25 you can feed a family of four very well, twice.
For me at least the best Italian food in Davenport is actually not in Davenport but in Silvis across the river. Frank’s Pizza is a must go place to eat. Despite the name Frank’s also serves up classic Italian dishes as well as one of the best pizzas you will ever eat. Frank’s has been around since 1955 and still going strong so they have to be doing something right. Many people don’t know that Harris Pizza was started by employees who started out at Frank’s. While both are well known for their pizza Frank’s spaghetti and other items on their menu are fantastic as well.
Lunardis or Tiramissu would be my answer to that.
Olive garden on west kimberly road is the best italian food you can get in the Davenport..
Note: Olive tree is different than Olive garden.
