  1. You must use the coffee which is finer than the regular ground ones,bc the finer ground will give you a perfect thick espresso with smooth crema. and from that you can add some hot water if want a long black coffee. Will depend on how strong you want your coffee
To have a perfect fine ground coffee You better buy coffee beans and grind them yourself or ask a favor at any coffeehouse to it grind for you,If you don’t have the grinder machine. Also yes,you can use the regular ground coffee but it will come out watery and the taste and aroma will be quite different.
    Hope this helps:)

  2. No. Espresso is made by a unique process where almost boiling water is forced by a pump under pressure through finely ground, tightly packed coffee that is roasted VERY darkly. This makes the pressures all work out, and creates that very dark, bitter espresso flavor. Regular ground coffee won’t do that. So no, they use espresso roasted and ground coffee.

  3. What do you mean by “regular coffee grounds”? You just use regular coffee, yes, but you need to buy fresh, whole beans and grind them yourself. An important part of making espresso is “dialing in the shot”, which means finding the right grind setting to make a good cup of espresso. If your grind is too fine or too coarse, the shot will take too long or not long enough, and will be sour and unappealing. So you’ll need to get the grind right, and then make occasional adjustments when you use different beans.
And any espresso connoisseur will tell you the grinder is more important than the espresso machine. Consistent grind size is key to a well extracted shot of espresso. Many grinders for home use cost over $500, and commercial grinders cost over $1000. That’s nothing when a home espresso machine costs over $1000 and commercial machines are usually over $10k, and require some skill to operate. This is why espresso still isn’t commonly made at home and people still go to coffee shops for their morning latte.
