I might have a nut allergy and think you are trying to kill me with your question. How about you ask another question that is not nuts.
I would say they are safe.
Would be like saying about an orange that has a hint of lemon or a wine that has a hint of coffee taste or tobacco taste.
It’s just the result of coffee complexity. Roasting produces a lot of different chemical compounds, which is what gives coffee it’s rich, interesting flavors. In this case, some of them happen to be similar to (or even the same as) volatile components found in walnuts.
These aren’t the same as the ones that kick off allergies, which are mostly nonvolatile proteins. No walnuts are used in making it, unless they specifically say so on the label. If they were using natural walnut flavorings, derived from walnuts, again, it will say so on the label, but this isn’t a flavored coffee. It’s just a coffee that happens to have developed a walnut-like aroma in the roasting process.
Unless it’s a flavoured coffee and it’s flavoured with walnuts, walnut oil or walnut flavouring (or other nuts, nut oils or nut flavourings) the description of a ‘hint of walnut’ is describing the flavour profile of the drink, not it’s actual constituents.
Always ask or read the label to be safe if you are allergic. If it’s packaged beans or other type of coffee nuts should be disclosed in the ingredients.
If the allergy is for real like any normal person I would not drink it…to be safe…
but ,if you can translate ..it problaly means a”note” taste of walnut paired with other flavors …like a wine might a “note” waxed or fruit.or a cigar has a Pine Note at the very end..its palate..
