  1. As far as i know they just throw them away. Unless there is something i dont know about they’re doing with them. Visit your local starbucks and see what they have to say about it.

  2. Some Starbucks here in Malaysia package their used coffee grains and let customers take them for free. The used grains can be used for gardening purposes. My mom is a big fan.

  3. Depends on the Starbucks, but generally speaking, some of the grounds are packaged up for customers to take home to use as compost, while the others are simply thrown away. If your local store doesn’t have any out for you to take, you can simply ask—it’s easiest to do it before the lunch rush, that way they’re not busy but haven’t yet thrown them away during cleaning.

  4. I can only answer for the Starbucks in Port Angeles, WA. If customers ask for coffee grounds we double bag them and give them the coffee grounds.
If no one asks for the coffee grounds we take the grounds back to the Produce Department to be composted.
Coffee grounds are great for plants that like acidic soil.
Evergreen trees, Blueberry plants, Rhododendrons and more like acidic soil. Just like anything it’s is possible to add to much coffee grounds which can kills the plants.
