  1. Usually means the proverbial “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” (But sometimes, there is a decision-making dynamic going on, like Should we ask other people to interview you? Are you the right person for the job? Are your compensation expectations inline? or internal administrative or budget tussles Maybe there was a mgmt/budget/org change since the job was advertised and it’s no longer vacant. Maybe we’re going to horse-trade this job req with another dept for a different one in future . Maybe there is a preferred internal candidate lined up who is not definite yet, and we’re just keeping you warm as the fallback option. )
In general it’s not a great sign if they don’t give you some definite timeframe in which you are supposed to hear from then – and then actually stick to that.
Before you leave the interview: if they don’t give you a timeframe, ask them for one. If they say Tuesday, let them know you’ll call the following Thursday. Being evasive is one thing, making and breaking a promise is another.

  2. “Thanks you for your time”, is a matter of courtesy. While taking interviews I always say that, and while giving many interviewers have thanked me for their time. The words per se don’t indicate whether you did good or bad, the manner of saying might indicate interviewer’s verdict.
However, this could also be cultural. All of I have said is from Indian perspective, things could be different in other countries.
