They are required to carry their “Core” donuts: Glazed, Old Fashioned (which is a plain cake ring), Chocolate Frosted (yeast ring with chocolate frosting), Chocolate Glazed (a chocolate cake donut with clear glaze coating), Jelly, and Boston Creme.
The rest of the standard flavors are decided by sales in the location. Most stores will order bare minimum if the donut isn’t selling, or not at all. If the donut sells, they’ll obviously order more. But the above are “required” by Dunkin standards and if Dunkin Corporate comes in and those are NOT present, they get in BIG TROUBLE. So even though your favorite donut is lemon, and you complain that you can never get a lemon donut, it’s up to management to carry it. You’re in the minority as far as corporate is concerned.
Aside from those, there is a rotating list of “promo” donuts which will be required at certain times of year (for example pumpkin during the fall promo season, among others.) Again, if Dunkin Corporate walks in and you don’t have the Promo Donut in stock, the store’s franchise owners get into trouble. If it happens often enough they run the risk of losing the right to run under the Dunkin name.
Frankly, I would stick to the water and shy away from those all fat, sugar filled morsels of gooey delight. Nothing against doughnuts but I wouldn’t take the risk of eating something cooked in hot grease. All that sugar gives me the willies.
None. They are no longer fresh made at any store anymore. Im a former baker and phazed us out. They now make donuts in a factory like krispy kreme. Frozen, thaw, and serve.
Chocolate with fluffy cream filling is my favorite. I’m not sure what they call them but they are out of this world delicious! I’m going to get me one right now.
You’d probably have to ask the folks at Dunkin Donuts to share their sales figures. That’s the only way you’ll know for sure. Unless a random stranger here on Quora knows their sales numbers, you’re not going to find out here. At best, you’ll just learn what type of donut people prefer for themselves.
Meanwhile, I’m not sure of the source of this data, but of the top selling items on Dunkin Donuts’ list, only one is actually a donut – a Boston Kreme.

I worked at a Dunkin Donuts for a while. Usually the one that sold the most by far was the boston cream donuts, followed by the glazed donuts (which a few people here said). I seem to remember the vanilla frosted donuts did pretty well too.
When there are the limited time donuts (like brownie batter and cookie dough in February) those naturally sell fairly quickly.
Jelly generally sold the least for some reason.
Again, this is my experience at the one where I worked as well as visiting other dunkin donuts locations and seeing which ones were sold out. So it might not be exactly like this everywhere, just around here. Especially because different areas have different donuts that others don’t have.
Old fashioned donut or anything with sprinkles
It seems that the most popular donuts at the Dunkin’ Donuts where I worked in Jacksonville, FL from August thru October 2018, were glazed, boston cream, and old fashioned.
From a purely logical point of view, I’d GUESS that a plain old fashioned donut would be, since it’s not overly sweet, thus perfect with hot coffee- but that’s probably not accurate ( Americans have a distressing tendency to overdo it on sweet pastry).

Here the best and worst Dunkin’ Donuts list:

Jelly Donut.
Boston Kreme Donut.
Double Chocolate Cake Donut. Dunkin’ Donuts.
what happened to the original Dunkin’ Donuts Chocolate Honey-dipped? They now call them Honey glazed and they don’t taste the same to me.
I currently work at Dunkin Donuts and after trying every donut too many times I am partial to the new snicker doodle deluxe donut.
