You’re kinda making this too easy for me. I recently wrote this answer:
Howie Reith’s answer to What are some good examples of light topics to talk about with a 21 year old girl?
I strongly recommend against having canned jokes for a date. But then, I’m an improv comedian, so coming up with funny stuff on the spot is pretty much my forte. One of these days I’ll get around to writing a substantial essay on how to be funny, but it won’t be today.
Just smile and connect with her. If you find something ironic or cute you can comment on it. Most of a joke is in the delivery, especially on a date.
*EDIT* Well since the OP has promoted this I’ll try for a slightly better answer.
There are a few tools you can be aware of for starters when making spontaneous jokes, building blocks of funny so to speak. For starters, here’s three basic ones:
Misdirection: When it looks like the joke is going in one direction, but goes in a completely unexpected direction at the punchline.
“If I am reading this graph correctly – I’d be very surprised” – Stephen Colbert
Exaggeration: Blowing something completely out of proportion so as to be ridiculous.
“The sound system was so expensive, instead of speakers, Pavarotti took personal requests from the back seat.”
Wordplay: Using double-meanings or ambiguous elements of language to construe ironic double-meanings.
“I haven’t slept for ten days, because that would be too long.” – Mitch Hedberg
