Obviously, being English, ‘Tea Table’.
I find many coffee tables obtrusive but you do need someplace to sit your drink, pile your bills, or set your boyfriend’s socks down when you’re through sniffing them. A surface near a chair is a helpful thing. Here’s some stuff I use:
Beam lumps. I rescued these oak hunks from a dumpster and use them everywhere. They’re getting heavier every year. (Just like me.)

Barrels, nail kegs. Cheep and raw, two of my favorite attributes. One has a copper plate on top, another is mounded up with all kinds of shit.

Boxes. This isn’t an end table but could be. I like boxes.
Living is easy if you like rustic environments. My favorite treasures came from the trash or thrift stores—lack of money can often drive creativity.
