  1. Beatles always works
    Ed Sheeran
    Beiber (really)
    Some dance tracks work surprisingly well acoustically. Look at Rihanna and Beyoncé.

  4. That depends largely on the age of its customers. You should match your repertoire to the age of the crowd you’re playing for. That can run the gamut: jazz, bebop, rock, folk, swing, movie themes, classical, or whatever. If it’s a mixed crowd, you may not be able to please everyone.

  5. Some songs come to my mind:
    America – A horse with no name
    Extreme – More than words
    Saigon Kick – Love is on the way. In this one you can arrange the chorus to make it sound more soft.
    Pink Floyd – Wish you were here
    Boston – Amanda
    John Mellencamp – Pink Houses
    Nazareth – Sunshine
    Dave Matthews Band – You and me
    The National – I should live in salt
    Goo Goo Dolls – Sympathy.
    Hope you like it.

  6. For me, the right music depends on the theme of the cafe , or the day itself. For Monday, I always play something more soulful, like jazz music, neo soul ( Aretha Franklin, kaytranada, Kenny g) or Thursday is a throwback Thursday, I’ll play some old school pop, nickelback, the creed, baby bash, paparoach.
    On Friday is a more , ready for the weekend music, like tropical house from Kygo, the him, Don Diablo. Sats for me is a hiphop day as I sell really cool cold brews with hiphop names. I named them Kanye west and all.
    Please don’t play the cliche elevator music, or acoustic versions of Vanessa Carlton songs. Spice the cafe up a little with a pinch of imagination.

  7. For a small cafe I would always like to hear some quiet Bossa Nova.
    Anything by Joao Gilberto, Tom Jobim, Bebal Gilberto, Carlos Morias, Paulinho Moska.
    This really instils peace and also sparks creativity in your clients.
    Good Luck.
    BTW Pamela has a Killer list.

  8. For a good teen male-female duet with an acoustic guitar, some songs I can think of are as follows (note that not all of these tunes are duets, but if you can insert a harmony, that will be a huge bonus to these songs, and I often hear these tunes performed that way in cafes):
    * All I Want – Kodaline
    * A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
    * Be My Forever – Christina Perri feat. Ed Sheeran
    * Falling Slowly – Glen Hansard feat. Marketa Irglova
    * Here Comes The Sun – The Bea…
