Starbucks claims that they sell roughly 4 BILLION cups of espresso and/or coffee drinks annually. [Source: Global Responsibility Report Goals & Progress 2014 ]
Leo Qin, using Fermi Estimation, comes up with a slightly lower number of 2.916 (not taking into account refills, re-usable conatainers and freebies). [Source and fun read: How Many Cups Does Starbucks Use In A Day? ]
There are currently 28,218 Starbucks stores (according to Google). [In 2017 Statistica reported 27,339 taking into account growth of roughly 1,000 stores per year the 28K @# fits.]
Let’s stick with the 4 BILLION cups annually. Which (divided by 365 days) means that roughly 10,958,904 cups sold daily between ALL Starbucks locations. So we are talking about 388 cups of espresso and/or coffee drinks daily on average per store —globally.
This is in line with E-Imports estimation that the average drive-thru coffee place sells 200–300 espresso and/or coffee drinks daily (a store selling 500 would be exceptional). [Source: Coffee Statistics ]
Considering Starbuck’s retail sales mix, with roughly 75% sales derived from coffee products, and annual sales in 2010 of $10.7 Billion*, and a weighted average price of a cup of coffee being $2.1*, we can calculate that Starbucks roughly sells 4 Billion cups of coffee every year (3,861,778,846 cups).
You can try and find out the sales contribution % of each type of drink from case studies or annual reports, and then use the same assumptions and calculations to derive cups sold for each variant/product.

Starbucks just posted a “year in review” on their Facebook page today (January 2, 2017). They said they sold 671,396,071 cups of coffee last year. Here is a screencap from that video.
The only fun fact that I know about Starbucks is regular milk use each day. I’m talking about just regular good old whole milk. Not all the specialty milks. One normal size Starbucks store uses over 70 gallons of regular milk every single day. Well at least the one where I live does.
I’m pretty I’ve heard they sell approximately 4 million coffee drinks per day. Multiply that times 364(pretty sure most are closed Christmas Day) you get around one billion four hundred and fifty six million or 1,456,000,000. That’s my guess.
Stores vary greatly based on location and whether they are a cafe or a drive-through. During the morning rush a busy drive-through store does upwards of 50-60 customers per half hour. Daily this can mean over 1000 transactions/day if the location is continuously busy throughout the rest of the day.
Starbucks aims beyond lattes to extend brand
According to a USA Today Article dated 2006, they sell over 4 Million cups of coffee a day. In 10 years time i think it’s safe to say you can double that amount with the growth the company has had.

Another article written in 2013 says individual stores sell 1500 cups of coffee per day, but I would imagine a store located in a busy airport or shopping mall could double that during busy times of the year, while a store located downtown might not be as busy on a Sunday as it would a Wednesday afternoon
My store does about 320 transactions on average and about half of those transactions people by coffee for a 2nd or 3rd person so I would say 500+ is a good number to say of how many cups of coffee we sell.

Assuming 2006 statistics of daily coffee drink sales per store remained constant, the average U.S. Starbucks location sells about 503 cups of coffee per day.
Different Starbux stores will have different figures, yet it’s not hard to imagine that it could easily reach hundreds of cups of coffee every day.
It depends. How busy is the Starbucks? Starbucks stores range from slow (<300 Transactions a day) to busy (>1000 transactions a day). What kind of coffee? Are we talking about just black, hot coffee? The percentage of sales of types of drinks changes from store to store. Some stores might only have 10% of their transactions be black, hot coffee. Others might have 150% of transactions be black hot coffee. If you are counting iced coffee and cold brew the number changes even more. If americanos also count… so on and so forth. But I’d put the estimate at around ~30% of sales at a medium volume store, which we’ll say is ~800 transactions a day for the sake of argument, making the sales of black, hot coffee 240 drinks of probably 1400 drinks total. Of course this is all just a guess.
Well we served almost 800 people at my store alone today. Each person usually gets on average 2 drinks. We get big orders too though. 13–20drinks on an order and then the person behind them has a four drink order, another has 2 and then a group walk in all wanting a drink each. It’s like this. So it can vary dramatically. Let’s say 1000 to be discreet haha

Based on their sales it amounts to about 4 billion , that equates to about just over 1million cups a day and 1.8 metric tonnes of coffee per day. At today’s price for coffee beans That is $ 2000 . If you said a cup of cofee was $2 that is $2million a day before overheads .
