  1. Having not eaten anything, it’s a not so good option. What it causes is the (temporary, of course) loss of appetite, so you feel it less in exchange for still being able to do work. But doing so in a stomach where there’s only coffee raises even more the acid levels there, that goes beyond the safe limits.
“The overproduction of acid in the stomach can cause mood swings, jitters, shaking, and other withdrawal symptoms”, along with the possibility of gastric ulcers and heartburn, and apparently, there have been studies linking gastric acid to anxiety and depression. Not cool.
I looked here Why You Shouldn’t Drink Coffee on an Empty Stomach
and a few other sites as well, and all of them say similar things regarding so.
    So, seriously, don’t do that.

  2. Black Coffee On An Empty Stomach
Who among us doesn’t love their first morning cup of coffee? Smelling the fresh brewed beans, sipping that flavorful, warm cup or one of the most antioxidant-full and stimulating beverages around is just so nourishing – or is it? It turns out drinking coffee on an empty stomach may not be so great for you after all; here’s why.
When coffee hits an empty stomach, it’s a big shock to our systems. While the antioxidant properties, derived primarily from chlorogenic acid, are great for overall health and even treating some diseases like colon cancer, they aren’t so wonderful on an empty stomach.
When ‘black gold,’ as some call pure black coffee, hits an empty stomach, it stimulates the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the digestive system. This causes gastritis in some, and for those who are completely healthy, the coffee is still not without harm.
Hydrochloric acid is used to break down the food, and if you run out during the day, there will be a digestive disturbances during major meals, causing a particular difficulty for the body to dissolve proteins.
The Other Side: Coffee Health Benefits
Proteins that get ‘stuck’ in the digestive system, and are unable to be eliminated properly can cause a host of health issues – ranging from a little bloating and irritable bowels, to a full blown case of colon carcinoma.
Furthermore, when we drink coffee first thing in the morning, it causes a dump of cortisol (otherwise known as the stress hormone) right into our blood stream. This stress hormone can cause you to crave sugar, think with less clarity, disturb sleep cycles, and over time, even cause other debilitating diseases.

  3. Black coffee does not have much of health benefits with regards to weight loss. It does not have enough scientific evidence too. In certain cases, black coffee has been observed to suppress appetite and hunger and thereby reduces your dietary intake and may promote weight loss…BUT don’t drink it empty stomach (like in early morning), it would cause acidity and other related problems.

  4. Coffee has a lot of caffeine. Having it on an empty stomach can cause gastritis and indigestion and other stomach-related issues.
The overproduction of acid in the stomach can cause mood swings, jitters, shaking, and other withdrawal symptoms”, along with the possibility of gastric ulcers and heartburn.
But coffee can help eliminate the appetite, causing one to eat less. And different people react differently to coffee. Drinking coffee, or anything else, on an empty stomach or a full one, will not help you lose weight. You need a sustained calorie deficit to do that. There are no tricks and it isn’t that complicated. Drinks can only boost up your metabolism but will not cut out your fat.
But coffee can help eliminate the appetite, causing one to eat less. And different people react differently to coffee. You can have black coffee with an apple will give better results. Caffeine in the coffee boosts up stamina. You can have it before or after your workout session.
It will stave off hunger for an extra period which will help you to stay at a caloric deficit.
Wishing you all the very best. Let me know if you need more help. Thanks!

  5. As much as Black coffee has the benefit boosting weight loss, its caffeine content would not make it a good idea to take on an empty stomach.
Caffeine has been known to increase the chances of injury to the stomach lining because of its hyper acidity tendencies. It causes an increase in acid secretion. This can cause ulcer over time or can worsen ulcer if you have aleady.
So if you have had no history of ulcer, adding ‘black coffee on an empty stomach’ as one of your weight loss routine may not be a problem on the short run as far as you seldom do it.
But making it a daily habit along side your workout sessions increases your chances for ulcer. As you may know the combine stress from your workout session with the caffeine on empty stomach increase your chance to develop ulcer.

  6. I actually do this (not quite for the same reason though) and yes it can help lose weight because of one key side effect.

Somebody told me to have black coffee with an empty stomach to reduce weight, is this a healthy option? What is the side effect?

it is important to note that this one action is not healthy or unhealthy – as long as it is paired with a solid diet you’ll be fine. You will never lose weight by just adding one little tactic alone.
The side effect that your friend is referring to is coffee’s appetite suppressant qualities. This is important because the ONLY way to lose weight is to be at a caloric deficit for a prolonged period of time.
Black coffee will stave off hunger for an extra period of time which will help you to stay at a caloric deficit.
When you are in a caloric deficit you are taking in less calories than you burn
A cup of black coffee only has about 5 calories.
When you start adding cream, sugar, and all that crazy stuff – it does more harm than good.
A problem a lot of people have when transitioning to straight black coffee is the taste. I always recommend Cafe de Loja for this because it tastes incredible. Grown at over 6,200 feet.
Never the less – just make sure to drink quality coffee! No need to punish yourself any further when trying to lose weight!

  7. Yes, if your stomach can handle it, then it is an excellent and healthy way to reduce weight. Black coffee contains zero calories and caffeine is proven to increase energy expenditure. Study to support:
The effect of caffeine, green tea and tyrosine on thermogenesis and energy intake
Drinking black coffee alone is however unlikely to have any large impact. Reducing weight is best done with healthy food together with regular exercise.
