  1. Do you mean sulphur the element or compounds containing sulphur. If the latter then almost certainly because it would be hard to abolish every single suphur containing molecule from a natural product. Many chemicals which constitute a smell or aroma, of which there are likely to be many in coffee, contain sulphur. Granted that many sulphur containing compounds do smell bad.
    I just had a quick google search and what I have said above, although an educated guess seems to be accurate. You can research yourself and see. Any compound with thio or mercapt in the name means sulphur containing. Obviously sulphides also contain sulphur
