  1. Actually, it’s not a surprise. Coffee works quite similar like tea. It has a relaxation effect, it widens the blood vessels on our brain. That is why drinking coffee is relaxing and to some people, it makes us sleepy.
I do this whenever I need a power nap: drink a cup, take a snooze for about 30–45 minutes, then up and wide awake, it’s like restarting your PC.

  2. No, it’s not weird.
The basic myth about caffee (caffeine) is that it helps you keep awake. It’s not 100% true.
Caffeine will probably rise either your blood pressure and heart rate. As a ‘side effect’ it will also help to speed up your whole body. Caffeine will also change the way how you feel tiredness by blocking neurotransmitters. These two group of effects will let you feel to be able to be awake all night. It’s the common way how caffeine works.
For some people, either neurotransmitter blocking and/or cardiovascular boost will not work as usual. At this situation, you’ll not feel the “speed up” feeling of caffeine, probably you’ll not able to survive a whole night awake, instead you’ll feel yourself more tired. It is not very common, but a known “issue” how caffeine is working with the metabolism of some people.
    Thanks for a2a.

  3. Nope! You may be a Fast Metabolizer.
Based on your genetic makeup specifically a gene called the CYP1A2
The faster you metabolize the coffee, the quicker you burn through the energetic effects, which then leads to a period of being tired OR because of this gene differential you may just metabolize coffee differently and the effects of caffeine don’t effect you the same as others.

  4. I’m the same way. I get tired and sleepy, but I also get the jitters. It’s the strangest feeling to be jittery, shaky, and super sleepy all at once. After experiencing that I left coffee alone for good. So my answer probably just reinforces that gene related fast metabolizer answer. I haven’t been tested but both my mom and sister do not handle caffiene well either. It’s just not for us!
