  1. I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be safe.
I will say that after all of the expose’s “back when” I always wash the glasses, cups, carafe, etc., before using them.

  2. As it says, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Coffee makers should be verified in hotel rooms. If you find it dirty, then you better avoid using it. That’s why I prefer to take with me my Double-Wall French press on my trips. It’s almost unbreakable, and you can make freshly brewed coffee wherever you are.

Still, many hotels have coffee machines in their rooms. They also usually provide essential ingredients such as disposable filters and coffee grinders.
The coffee maker is the first thing to check when you check-in. If it is dirty and in poor condition, it is better to go down to the restaurant and drink your coffee there. And after that, contact the reception desk with a request to re-clean.
Moreover, the coffee maker is an excellent indicator of the quality of the cleaning staff. If it was not cleared, the rest of the zones were not given sufficient attention. The coffee maker or vase can be asked to be cleaned again. However, it is unlikely that anyone will want to use them after such a find.

  3. Yes it should be OK.
A good hotel will make sure everything is sterile after the previous occupant has checked out.
If you dont think it’s safe, ask for another one.

  4. Well, yes probably safe but I wouldn’t use it. Depending on the make, model and location of the coffee maker will help determine whether or not I would use it. First, if it’s located in the washroom where you shower, etc. using it would be out of the question. If the coffee maker has a pot that needs to be filled with sink water, then again, a hard pass. If the unit is similar to Kcup or single-use application and a sealed cup is provided, then I would make coffee in the room. You never know what the pot was used for before you checked in, and the possibilities make me a little nervous.

  5. Perfectly safe. The worst scenario is that a circuit breaker trips. Someone resets it but it again trips. The hotel electrician if he is not dumb like Trump finds out that some appliance in your room is the culprit. The management would warn you not to use that appliance again.
