  1. The European Food Safety Authority found that daily intake for most healthy adults, except for pregnant women, is 400mg with a recommendation. How that translates into physical consumption is about 5.2 shots of espresso, 1 of a Starbucks Venti brewed coffee.
The recommended daily intake of caffeine for young people (12–18 years old) should be less than 100mg. Mixing caffeine with alcohol is to be avoided because it can be a diuretic leading to dehydration. Some people are prone to side effects from a heavy caffeine intake such as headaches, insomnia, fast heartbeat, muscle tremors. For people not used to drinking caffeine the likelihood of side effects is increased.
If you are taking medication it is advisable to consult with your doctor as the combination of caffeine and some drugs could increase the risk of high blood pressure, strokes, and another.

  3. Science has proven the health benefits of coffee many times, but only if consumed in moderation. This drink so popular around the world not only has caffeine, but also includes other substances that are good for the body, such as antioxidants.
Each cup of coffee contains approximately 100 milligrams of caffeine, a negligible amount. The dose considered fatal is 10 grams.
Of course, it depends on the size of the cup. If you drink a large glass of half a liter, the amount of caffeine is greater and therefore you must be careful not to drink too much.

  4. About 400 mg of caffeine daily is considered safe for average adults with no special medical concerns (like, for example, untreated high blood pressure or pregnancy). That’s about three to four cups of brewed coffee.
That, of course, is an average. What works for you could well be different. If you experience any adverse effects, like nervousness, headaches, sleep difficulties, etc., you should cut back or talk with your doctor.
Of course, many people drink more than four cups in a day (I know I did when I was working in industry and at last check, I’m still kicking.)
But that’s for adults. The American Academy of Pediatrics says that adolescents ages 12 to 18 should cap daily caffeine intake at 100 mg. Below 12-years-old, the Academy advises not consuming any caffeine at all.
Where does caffeine intake start to get dangerous? It’s not clear.
The estimated LD50 for caffeine in humans is about 150 to 200 milligrams per kilogram of body mass. The LD50 is the dose that would be fatal to half the test population, and in this case comes from rat studies as it is considered bad form to go around poisoning people for science, even if you’re giving them shade-grown Arabica.
As a very rough estimate, if you weigh in at 68 kilos (about 150 pounds), then it would take about 135 to 180 cups of brewed coffee to have a 50 percent chance of sending you to that great Starbucks in the sky.
So somewhere in between those four cups and 135 cups, bad things are likely to happen.

  5. Yes. This is amount is safe for a healthy adult with no medical conditions. The FDA stated that a caffeine intake of not more than 400 mg a day is recommended for adults.
Though, if you’re under 18 years old, this may not be a good amount for daily intake. While those under 13 years old are advised to stay away from any amount of caffeine.

  7. Really depends on your heart. On average, 400mg is probably safe. One cup of coffee is around 90mg caffeine depending on the type. So 400mg is around 4–5 cups.

  10. A big cup of strong coffee can easily contain more than that. So, unless you have a medical issue or you’re very sensitive to caffeine, it won’t be a problem at all.
