I would assume that you’re talking about morning tea.
It is most definitely, NOT recommended to consume anything in the morning before brushing the teeth.
See while we are asleep, there is decreased salivation in the oral cavity. Saliva, otherwise allows the movement of bacteria, thus preventing the instance of dental caries or other lesions. Therefore, due to regressed flow of saliva through the night, there is accumulation of large percentage of microbes.
If we consume anything before brushing, the bacteria are sent to our digestive tract. This may hamper the healthy working of gut in the long run. It could be the case even if you have brushed your teeth the night before.
Make sure to brush your pearly whites and floss.
Personal choice!!
It doesnt matter really from health point of view!
I differ from all the answers listed below ! And I strongly recommend you to brush first thing in the morning even before having anything, not just tea ! Basically anything !
Because your mouth is a collection of bacterias when you wake up in the morning, hence brushing teeth is necessary! Drinking tea , be it acidic or even basic , I do not care ,will damage your teeth big time! Tea will stain your teeth even if your brushing is proper ! So you can imagine the outcome of drinking tea before brushing !
I don’t know that it’s a matter of hygeine, so much as it’s a good idea to brush teeth after consuming anything that would potentially stain teeth if you want to avoid darkening of the enamel. Black tea actually stains teeth worse than coffee, believe it or not.
It depends on if tea is acidic or not.
It’s a bad idea to brush your teeth after eating or drinking something acidic because it softens the enamel and then you are scrubbing this softened enamel. If you are worried about the tea staining your teeth (and believe me, it will!), you could always mitigate this effect by rinsing with water after or switching from black tea to green or white tea.
