    But should you? Well, this poses a dilemma: caffeine is dehydrating, and one of the most important things to do during a fever is to increase hydration; but caffeine withdrawal can be a real bear, especially if you need black coffee to stave off headaches or keep your lungs open and asthma at bay.
    So if you must have your coffee (and feel well enough to savor it), drink an equal volume of extra water (or nonalcoholic, non-caffeinated fluid) to prevent dehydration. If you make it a latte, the amount of milk counts as such a fluid; but if dairy gives you too much or thickens your phlegm (as it does for most but not all people), then substitute almond, oat or soymilk.
