  1. Mug printing can be a good business opportunity right now.
It is not like there is no competition. Amazon and Flipkart also sell personalized mugs but they are costly even when bought in bulk, which is not preferred by the customers.
And other e-commerce websites that sell these personalized mugs are not quite famous in the market, but they still have some base.
Before you get into it, you should understand every aspect of the business, and if you could then try to sell something unique. And that is only possible if you do well market research.
Look for ways in which you could shine in the crowd.
People want personalized gifts, but it is hard to look for the right product.
Listen to customers – what is the requirement of the majority, what are their complaints, what do they like, etc.
    Have a good day!

  2. In the post-COVID-era, online gifting is the way forward. And printed mugs make some of the best gifts for all occasions. So yes, it could indeed be a profitable e-commerce business.
However, if your idea is to start just another website that sells birthday mugs with alphabets A→Z and messages of “Happy Birthday Pappa” or “Best Mom in the World” – you are doomed.
The year 2020 has changed our habits, and when we could not meet and greet and gift – we switched to personalization at a whole new level. There are more buyers than in the past now who want to write a message of their own. We wish to add a picture – a memory next to that message and create a personalized gift.
However, just not hung on to the idea that you must personalize the mugs – no matter how. The user interface makes all the difference in the world. For example, adding the personalized message and image should really be simple, as shown in the image here:

  3. Ever wonder if the mug printing business is a good e-commerce business? If you asked me, I’d have to say yes, yes it is. But of course, I’ll have to back up my reasons as to why it is a good e-commerce business. As I’m sure that’s why you’re here to find out the reason why. So let me address that.
It’s highly sought out on Google
Let’s head on over to Neil Patel’s Ubersuggest tool. There you’ll see that a lot of people are looking for custom mugs on Google. Now, if you type in “custom mugs” into this tool you’ll see that 33,100 people as of today are searching for this keyword phrase on a monthly basis. And if you type in “custom coffee mugs” you get another 22,200 people. That’s a total of 55,300 searches a month. Holy cow!
You’ll see that the word happens to be competitive. But, there is a 42% chance you can rank in the top 20. And with custom coffee mugs, there’s a 50% chance. So there is some SEO difficulty here when it comes to trying to rank for these keywords on Google.
You’ll have to keep that in mind if you’re wanting to print mugs for your e-commerce business.
But, are there people out there looking for a mug printing business? Yes, there absolutely are a lot of people searching for a mug printing business on a monthly basis.
It’s a business you can start with no inventory
I’m sure you’re thinking right now, did I just read that correctly? Yes, you did. This is an industry you can start up with no inventory and no equipment as well. You just have to know the right resources to find promotional product suppliers in the mug printing business.
If you work with some promotional product suppliers in this industry you can make at a minimum a 40% profit. That’s not too bad if you ask me. What do you think? If we randomly said a mug costs $5.99 for 100 pieces = $599.00 and you’ll make 40% of that which is about $240.00 for one order. Not too shabby if you ask me. Especially if you don’t have to carry any inventory or have any printing equipment. You basically are working as a salesperson.
    There’s room for expansion
Now hear me out. You don’t always have to have no inventory and no equipment. This can be something that you can aim for as your start-up business picks up in sales. You could eventually become your own promotional product supplier in the mug printing business. By selectively adding your own mugs to your own product line. This, in my mind, is where you’ll want to be. Unless, of course, you like working with no inventory and no equipment. But that’s entirely up to you.
You can find a FREE e-commerce platform
There are FREE e-commerce platforms out there available that would be great for a mug printing business. I would highly suggest Magento. But, you’ll have to know what you’re doing when installing this software. It can be pretty complex installing it and keeping it up-to-date with the latest versions and security patches that Magento releases. However, I’m completely savvy in this area if you’d like my expertise.
They even have Magento mug design tools you can install as an add-on to your Magento software. That is if you want to spend some money and invest in your online business.
You can learn as you grow
It doesn’t take a lot of knowledge to get into the mug printing business. Why? Because you’ll have your promotional product supplier there to answer any questions that you may not know. And then you’ll learn as you grow your business.
Just don’t agree to anything with your client until you get the facts first from your promotional product supplier. There’s no harm in saying “Let me get back to you on that.”
I think your biggest obstacle is going to be starting your online e-commerce store. And of course, as mentioned above, getting into that top 20 on Google for the keywords custom mugs or custom coffee mugs.

  4. It has very little to do with the product. If you can sell it- that would be an excellent business…although you can probably kiss excitement goodbye. I say that not to be an ass- but if you’re trying to do something because its a “good business” you’ve already lost.
I started a landscaping company that was a good business, and that cost me just under 200k in credit card debt. This was because my motivation was to become “rich” and make a lot of money. The world does not reward this mentality the vast majority of the time.
