  1. Lots of people like to drink a half caf/half decaf mix as it lets them consume a little caffeine, but not as much. My aunt used to buy coffee beans in that mixture and brew her coffee at home that way.
Why should you think this is annoying? Starbucks already has both kinds of coffee brewed and ready to go. Customization of espresso drinks is much more extensive than this.

  2. Nope. It just means she is trying to cut down on her caffeine intake. What is annoying is you trying to micro-manage someone else’s coffee order. That is annoying.

  3. Why would it be? There are a lot more complicated orders out there. And grocery stores offer half decaf and half regular coffee grounds, so you know it’s a popular thing.

  4. It never crossed my mind to order that .. what a great idea. I think I might when it’s my 2nd or 3rd cup of coffee. Your other half is brilliant.

  5. Lol, You are getting annoyed at someone ordering their coffee the way they like it…
It could be because caffeine upsets their stomach.
Possibly they started getting jittery from too much caffeine.
It could be affecting their moods and making them feel violent (I get that way when someone dictates how I drink my coffee too) and it prevents them from strangling you.
Maybe they have been experiencing heart palpitations and didn’t want to alarm you.
OR IT COULD BE YOU HAVE BEEN DRINKING TOO MUCH CAFFEINE YOURSELF AND NEED TO CUT BACK!
If you are getting miffed about how your SO is ordering their coffee when it has no negative effect (and possibly positive ones) on you maybe you should try decaf or maybe even think about a cave somewhere in the far north with your nearest neighbor a grizzly bear?

  6. Most differences don’t matter. Amongst the millions of differences that don’t matter is your partner’s preference for half-caf. Now going to Starbucks, that’s annoying.

  7. No. Not unless you’re easily bugged. Starbucks specializes in custom orders and they certainly charge enough for them. They appreciate the business and your SO appreciates the custom coffee. That’s why Starbucks is so successful. People rattle off the craziest of things. 1/2 decalf & 1/2 reg isn’t that crazy.

  8. Why are you getting your jimmies ruffled over what someone else is doing that has zero impact on you??
Yeah, at first glance it sounds weird, but consider this. You love the taste of coffee, but it’s the early afternoon. You know drinking a cup of coffee will keep you up half the night, but you also need a slight kick to get through the rest of the work-day. Plus you wouldn’t mind something warm to sip on. Suddenly it hits you! You begin making a cup of coffee as normal, but you only pour a half cup. You top the rest of your cup up with decaf. Boom! You now have the best of worth worlds.
In fact my dad does this as he simply loves the taste of coffee. He’ll do all types of mixes depending on the time of day. Which is partly why I buy him a certain bucket of coffee every now and then…

  9. I don’t see anything unreasonable about wanting a half portion of caffeine.
It’s about the same thing as saying, “easy on the mayo.”
But, if that seems annoying to you, I don’t really have any helpful advice for you. You should take comfort in knowing there are probably some things you do that annoy your significant other. 🙂
    Maybe just call it even?

  10. Not a problem at all. There’s actually a button not only for 1/2 but 1/3 caf. The biggest aggravation is forgetting to tell the person taking your order specifically what you want, then when you get your beverage insisting you ordered ie. Soy, Almond etc. We’re more than happy to re-make a drink for you but please don’t blame us because you were too busy on your cell, reprimanding your kids etc. to correctly order the drink you want.
