  1. Minus the small amount of grounds adhering to the walls of the grinder, yes. (That amount is tiny, though, and probably won’t show on your average kitchen scale.) Coffee shops know their equipment and how to get those residual loose grounds out of the machine’s chambers and into the bag.
But if you’re concerned about getting cheated on the weight, be assured that ny quality coffee purveyor I know will actually weigh the end product, not the beans before grinding. We have scales that allow you to enter the tare weight of the bag, so you know when you’ve put a pound or kilo into the retail package.

  2. There is always something material left behind in the grinder. Especially those store grinders with the big hoppers where beans get stuck
So the weight will be less

  3. Each bean has a little bit of gas stored in it that is lighter then air, so when you grind the beans and release that gas the outcome is actually heavier then the start. (I’m joking it should be the same weight, but larger mass as there is now more space for air between the ground bits)

  4. It should, however some grinders retain coffee, and that may result in loss. The coffee is in the grinder, and with a lot of persistence you will get it out. Just remember you are not changing the coffees state your are changing its form.
One other thing worth considering, is that grinders do produce a lot of static, and that can result in additional retention.
