  1. Cats will try anything once. It can be harmful if that substance is lethal, like antifreeze. My cats have attempted to try everything I’ve put in a cup, bowl, or on a plate. They haunt me when I am eating like tiny, furry phantoms. I have had several cats over the years try coffee. They usually don’t want more than the tiniest taste. Ideally our cats should be sticking to their cat food, but we’ve all gotten up from the table briefly only to find a face or a paw dipping into our drinks and food on our return. I don’t think a tiny sip of coffee will hurt your cat. If your cat does start isolating itself and if it starts to look as if it’s losing weight, take it to the vet immediately. It may have as kidney problem. Making certain that your cat has several sources of fresh water throughout your home can help curtail your feline friend from trying your more exotic drinks.

  2. It is strange. I’m not sure if it’s harmful, but I wouldn’t want my cat consuming anything containing caffeine.
I would immediately check to see if my cat’s water dish needed cleaning and/or refilling.

  3. I’ve read that coffee is poisonous to cats, but the guy that has the world record for having the oldest cats used to give his a few drops every day, so I’m not sure what to think. My cat licks my coffee spoon dry in the morning and I’ve caught her with her head in my coffee cup, though there wasn’t much in it.

  4. Pick those up when you’re finished, don’t leave those around! Coffee and tea are very harmful to cats; Keep a small bowl of fresh water available at all times.
