Not eating chewy, sticky or particularly crunchy foods .
I had a temporary crown while they made the permanent one. I was just after Christmas. One day, I wasn’t even thinking, and popped a piece of taffy in my mouth. 2 or 3 chews later out comes the crown. Now, I knew that if it came out, just use some Seabond or other denture cream to stick it in place. Unfortunately I had 2 side by side done at the same time. They had both come out, and I couldn’t get them back in right.
This was Thursday evening. I was supposed to get the permanent Monday. So first thing Friday I call and ask if they can squeeze me in just to put them in. Fortunately my permanents were coming in that day, so I just went at the end of the day and they put those in.
Anyway, no taffy or Milk Duds, no caramel. No licorice. Skip the steak. Have chili or a burger. Eat a salad. Enjoy a piece of chicken. Have some chips, but skip the corn nuts. Have Cheerios, but not granola cereal.

  2. The dentist doesn’t want your temporary crown to experience any effects of a vacuum exerting disconnecting pressure on the tooth thereby risking the crown becoming dislodged from the tooth stump.
Sticky. Chewy and crunchy foods are all facilitators of that vector pressure on the temporary crown.

  3. Temporary crowns are made of material which lives a very short time. And temporary crowns do not give you comfort like permanent crowns. because they are not strong enough like teeth or permanent crowns.
So should follow some precautions with temporary crowns:
Avoid chewy or sticky foods like taffy, caramel and gum.
Avoid chewing hard foods like granola, ice and hard candy. This can break off the crown.
Avoid the very hot and cold type of food.
I will also suggest that you should chew less on the affected side of your mouth and chew more with the opposite side of your mouth. This could reduce the chances of getting damaged to the dental crowns.
On the other hand, if you want to chew or eat heavy or Crunchy food like Walnut, caramel, granola, hot and cold food and other heavy materials from your teeth crown.
