  1. Wikipedia acknowledges that caffeine tolerance build-up is real but provides no guidance about the duration required to reverse the tolerance.
It does state, however: “Withdrawal headaches are experienced by roughly half of those who stop consuming caffeine for two days following an average daily intake of 235 mg.”
So this suggests you need at LEAST two days.
From my own experience, after two weeks off coffee during an overseas trip, the next cup of coffee felt very strong again.
So I would suggest that it takes between a few days and 2 weeks to reverse caffeine tolerance but I have no scientific data to back that up.

  2. Drop caffeine cold turkey for a weekend. You’ll be ready and willing again on Monday to feel the full effects of caffeine.
You could also ween off, or ramp down your usage with Green Coffee Caffeine Gummies. They are available in 10mg doses, allowing you to customize your caffeine routine and really dial in the perfect amount. Ramp those up and down with ease.

  3. Mechanism
Adenosine and caffeine share a very similar chemical structure.
When you drink coffee, caffeine molecules attach to the brain receptors that adenosine would normally attach to, thereby blocking its attachment (think of a lock and key mechanism with the caffeine/adenosine being the key and the receptors as the lock).
    What’s Adenosine?
Adenosine acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter, hence, it regulates the nervous system to not get too stimulated. Specifically, Adenosine helps your body get ready to sleep as it gets released more and more as the day progresses, dilating your blood vessels, and slowing down your heart rate.

    Making the connection
The more caffeine you drink the more your body will adapt and have more receptors. Of course then, you’ll need to drink more coffee.
With that being said, the body has an incredible ability to heal back and go back to normal. A day or two (depending on your physical health) should be more than enough.
Once you’re back on the good stuff – studies show that 2 or 3 cups daily are optimal for the full health benefits of coffee!

  4. Why would anyone want to develop a dependency on an addicting drug? Nothing good ever comes of it. It is expensive and damaging. Your body and your life are priceless gifts from our Loving Heavenly Father, so that we can progress and become more like Him and enjoy Eternal Life and exaltation, if we seek it and love Him with all our hearts.

  5. Do you get headaches from caffeine withdrawal? If so it’s simple. Just wait out the headaches and add a day or two. Should get a nice pop next caffeine hit. (No scientific basis for this but works for me.)

  6. As little as 3 days will have a large effect, but as much as 2 weeks might be needed.
If you chose to do this do be ready for caffeine withdrawal, especially in the first 3 days
