We all know that summer is coming and it’s time to be outside more. Now, with the warmer weather, it’s hard to drink hot coffee. Iced coffee is a great alternative but can be expensive or difficult to make at home without any equipment. Making iced coffee in your blender is an easy way to save money and enjoy the perfect cold brew! This blog post will teach you how you can easily make iced coffee with just about anything on hand.

Brewing iced coffee with a french press:

Step 1: Measure the amount of water you will need and pour it into your blender. Then add 1.5 Tbsp for every 8 oz of water to the pitcher and stir.

Step 2: Boil the water on the stove. The higher quality coffee you use, the less boiling time is necessary. French pressed coffee requires much more boiling time than other cold brew methods, so it will be explained in detail below.

Step 3: Grind your coffee beans according to your preference. We prefer coarse ground for this method.

Step 4: Pour the hot water onto the coarsed ground coffee into your french press. If you don’t have a french press, pour the hot water directly over the coarse ground coffee in your blender. Stir everything together to make sure all of the pieces are soaked. Add additional water if necessary (the mixture should be mostly full with just a tiny bit of open space).

Step 5: Place the lid on your press and let it sit for 8 hours. Letting this mixture sit overnight will produce much better results. If you’re in a rush, 4-6 hours is still enough to produce a flavorful coffee concentrate.

Step 6: After letting it sit, place a strainer over your pitcher and slowly pour the mixture into the pitcher, catching the grounds in the strainer.

Step 7: Using cold water instead of hot, pour 8 oz of water for every 1.5 Tbsp coffee you used. This will make even more concentrate that you can keep in a sealed container in your fridge for later use!

Step 3: Let it cool for one hour.

Blended Thai Iced Coffee

Thai tea is one of our favorite new iced coffee flavors! We use this version to make blender iced coffees, so follow these steps for about 5 minutes before you would normally strain your cold brew. This method will produce a very flavorful, but lighter concentrate that mixes well with water or almond milk.

Step 1: Follow the instructions for normal cold brew without straining (add 1/4 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk per 8 oz water), then add 6-7 drops of Thai tea extract (more if you like stronger flavor) and stir until combined. This extract can usually be found in the International section at most grocery stores.
