However, after Pope Clement VIII gave it a try and fell in love with it, more people started their days with coffee rather than the customary wine or beer. How To Make Authentic Hazelnut Coffee
The majority of coffee shops serve hazelnut coffee that has been made with hazelnut syrup. Although it is tasty, it can significantly increase the sugar, fat, and calories in your morning coffee. - Light roast coffee beans of your choice
- Shelled, unsalted hazelnuts
- Milk of your choice

Step One: GRAB YOUR SCALES!
The first step to making the best hazelnut coffee is to measure out both your beans and nuts. While there is no such thing as hazelnut coffee beans, any light roast coffee beans will work well. Two parts beans and one part nuts are what we advise using. However, you might need to experiment with the ratio to find the flavour that suits you best.
Step Two: GRIND GRIND GRIND!
Add both the beans and hazelnuts to your grinder. Note that when you grind hazelnuts, the oil will come through. So you might prefer to use a spice grinder or food processor rather than your coffee grinder. The end product should ideally be on the coarse side to help bring out the flavour of the nuts in the beans.
Step Three: BREWING.
Any brewer you have on hand can be used for this recipe. However, if you have a choice, we recommend choosing a French press as it enhances the hazelnut flavour. Put the grounds in the machine and brew your coffee as usual.
Step Four: MAKE IT SWEET! (OPTIONAL)
The final step is entirely optional. Hazelnut coffee is frequently consumed black, without any other additions. Having said that, it can be made lighter by adding milk and the sweetener of your choice. Pour coffee into a mug after adding one or both.
