  1. It is quite a common thing. In the days before microwaves we used to boil milk in a pan. I always used to wait for the milk to rise up the pan before taking it off the heat so that it didn’t spit everywhere as the milk was poured. The milk is poured into the cup and the instant coffee stirred into it. Think of it as latte made with instant coffee.
    I find all the talk of the milk spoiling as it is heated to be nonsense. We used to boil the milk and it didn’t alter the taste when coffee was added although boiled (or even just warmed) milk on its own is quite disgusting.
    These days when I order latte at a coffee shop I always ask for the milk to be heated to 190 degrees. I do get arguments from time to time from people saying that the milk will burn – no, it doesn’t! (BTW – I still finish my coffee before my husband who has his at the “normal” tepid temperature.)
