  1. Good question! Nope.
It is measured, though. For most iced drinks, they’re filled up to the top line and then ice is added the rest of the way. Iced coffee falls into this category.
Frappuccinos have measuring cups organized by cup size, though. And refreshers/teas are mixed in a plastic mixer first, ice is also measured out last by volume.

  2. There isn’t a specific number and it is usually just based off of the cup and if they ask for extra ice/light ice and things like that. The Starbucks standard is that you would make the drink to the 3rd line on the cup, and then fill the rest with ice

  3. I’m sorry, allow me to pick myself up off the floor from laughing so hard.
Have you even been to a coffee shop? Have you ever seen a barista behind the bar counting ice cubes? Because if a company told me that I had to put any exact number of ice cubes in a drink, I’d just laugh at them. I’d seriously think they’re joking.
Working at a coffee shop is exhausting and extremely fast paced. It’s not feasible to count anything that small that often. Sure, we count a lot of things that go into individual beverages, but we count them because there’s less than a handful of those items going in and small amounts make a big difference. In a grande latte, it gets 2 shots of espresso and 4 pumps of syrup. These two things are countable. Espresso shot come out of a machine and I have to tell the machine how many shots to make. Syrup comes out of a bottle and a pump is an easy way to measure how it comes out of that large bottle.
But ice? Ice is tiny objects in a large pile that don’t make enough of flavor difference if there’s 32 cubes of ice or 28 cubes. First of all, that would be a higher number to count and takes a lot longer than 1, 2, 3, 4 pumps of syrup. This would be like asking a chef or cook in a restaurant if they count the number of noodles they put in a mac and cheese.
