  1. Firstly – I am non-American – so I don’t do imperial units. I will answer in metric then convert to imperial
Secondly – I only do Espresso – in fact only E61 Espresso. E61 Group head is the large style commercial machines you would see in a top end cafe. You can get smaller “domestic” single head E61 machines but the are the same group head and miles away from something like a pod “espresso” machine which many at home coffee makers might call espresso
Lastly – particularly for espresso coffee beans should be ground immediately prior to using. “NO” to pre-ground coffee
    so for E61
Single shot group head basket – about 10 grams
Double shot group head basket – 16-18 grams
Triple shot group head basket – around 21 grams
An 18 Oz bag of coffee is 510 grams – about half a kg

  2. When I make coffee, I weigh the beans in grams. It is easier. The standard for drip, pour-over, French press coffee makers, or cowboy coffee is to use 10 grams of coffee per cup (6oz/175 ml). A single shot of espresso is 3 oz./90 ml. using 10 g of ground coffee as well. You can adjust the amount of coffee you use to suit your taste.
18 ounces = 510 grams so, based on 10g/cup, you will get about 51 cups of coffee.

  3. In my experience, to make a decent cup of coffee requires 7 grammes of ground coffee. Converting ounces to grammes we get 18 oz = 510 g. Dividing by 7 gives 72 cups. Hope it’s nice coffee because you’re going to be drinking a lot of cups!
Obviously if you like your coffee stronger and you use (say) 10g then you’ll only get 51 cups.
I’d say that you can therefore expect to get 50–70 cups out of 18oz.
