  1. Only from my personal experience, so total sample of exactly 1 person.
I decided to get completely off of drinking coffee one summer when I was about 16. Anticipated headache first day, was not disappointed. Not migraine level pain, more like minor annoyance level
Can’t remember if day 2 had any side effects at all. If so they were minor.
Stuck with my decision pretty much all summer.
Realizing it was the worst summer I ever had, changed my mind in the Fall and have been enjoying caffeine in medium to high amounts ever since 😀

  2. I’m not really sure, since the headaches are so godawful, I was never able to wait them out, “cold turkey;” that was why I switched from coffee to tea, 40 yrs ago when I was just 19. But I’d guess probably about a week, if you can muscle thru without using any caffeine at all. I never could! But I stopped being a coffee drinker 40 yrs ago, and now I rarely even drink decaf coffee. Tea is much tastier, and healthier too — fantastic antioxidant!

  3. My wife, a dedicated caffeine enthusiast, said “oh God 3 days at least”. I remember once she decided we should drink decaf and didn’t tell me. Massive headache. I took some Excedrin and that cured the headache only later to find out that Excedrin has caffeine in it. I’m wondering if it might be easier to just taper off, maybe start by mixing decaf and regular and then making the mix a little lighter each day? Good luck!

  4. About 72 hours. The best way is not to stop suddenly but taper yourself down. Caffeine is a short-acting stimulant with a long withdrawal.

  5. I’d like to say it’s easy but caffeine withdrawal isn’t fun. It varies depending on body size and quantities of caffeine you drink regularly. I’d expect two to three days of a low grade headache. It’s not a migraine, not sharp or intense at all. Think of it as low grade and annoying.
