Colombia is a coffee grower country too. Colombia grows Robusta coffee (low quality and bitter coffee) and arabica coffee (Higher quality and no bitter coffee). Then when talking about colombian coffee you first need to know if it is robusta or Arabica.
Hey there.
Colombian is an origin and Arabica is a species. Colombia produces arabica beans.
Hey there—Sevelin is right. “Arabica” describes a particular variety of coffee plants, which is grown throughout the equatorial zone of the globe. Colombian coffee is mostly arabica, though there are some experiments using strains drawn from Robusta coffee for production and disease resistance.
Here’s a fun pic of me in a field of arabica coffee in Colombia.
Colombian coffee is simply coffee that’s from Colombia. Arabica is one of the main species grown for coffee today in many countries around the world. It has a lower yield than the other main species Robusta, a higher sugar content, is less resistant to disease and likes lower temperatures. Arabica beans are also larger than Robusta beans with more antioxidants so are healthier. Hope that helps.
