There are a few ways to clean a travel coffee mug. If the mug is made of plastic, you can use a dishwasher on the top rack with mild soap. If the mug is made of metal, you can use a steel wool pad and a hot water and vinegar solution.
If the cup has a screw-on lid, remove the lid and clean the cup and the lid separately.
Pour and shake out any liquid coffee that is still in the cup. Pour a couple of drops of Fairy Liquid into it. Fill it under the hot tap and then wipe it with a washing up cloth or a washing up sponge. Your cup is probably clean by now.
If there are brown coffee stains that you can’t wipe off, fill the cup nearly to the brim with hot water and top it up with Domestos or Milton. Leave it overnight, then pour the bleach out and rinse the cup very thoroughly. That will remove any brown stains and sterilise the inside of the cup.
Re-assemble the cup and lid if you need to.
With Vinegar
Fill your mug with a mixture of a tablespoon of distilled white vinegar and warm water. Let the solution sit for about 15 minutes, then rinse it out. You can also clean the lid by soaking it in vinegar and water.
