  1. I am not a fan of Starbucks coffee tho I often have to go to a branch in between transport, to kill time between meetings, etc. in different places. Over roasted beans and then too much milk. I have various ways of preparing coffee at home and all are way tastier and better balanced. For breakfast I have a V60 filter made with high quality, fresh ground beans. In the afternoon I’ll make a flat white style drink, so with milk, made with my Nespresso machine. I have a few non-Nespresso varieties of capsule that I use. These are as good as the best Nespresso at a fraction of the price. The key is to know your beans. You may have to try a number of types, Nespresso or other brands, to find what you like. These milk drinks, made with the machine using fresh steamed milk, are easily better than the standard Starbucks equivalent. With Starbucks I just pay for the table. At home, I enjoy the coffee.

  2. My daughter in law loves hers, but I use Keurig so cannot comment first hand on the Nespresso. I don’t much like Starbucks, though- it is burnt tasting. They can call it ‘dark roast” and “robust”, but what that means is burnt.

DiL no longer buys coffee on the road from what I’ve been told. Since she lives on the stuff, must be good.

  3. You will read in the various responses to this question the usual rantings of people who think Starbucks coffee is “over-roasted.” Not so. On the other hand, Nespresso (Nestlé) actually partners with Starbucks and distributes their packaged coffees in grocery stores and supermarkets. Nespresso also produces two categories of espresso capsules (the “original” and the “Vertuoline”) which deliver a milder brew.

  4. The beauty of Nespresso over traditional espresso machines is that there is almost zero maintenance. So if you like espresso based drinks this is a must buy.
