How can I fix a lift top coffee table that has a gap when closing? I have the West Elm industrial coffee table, and have tried tightening all the screws and lubricating the joints, but this has not worked. West Elm warranty does not cover this.

  1. Does light pressure close it or is it a firm stop at this point.
    The hinge could be bent, the wood could be warped, the hings could be installed off level, the spring tension could be wrong, etc..
    Did it USED to close properly? If this is a NEW table you need to raise a fuss! “Not covered by warranty” should be for malfunctions not for original failure to preform!

  2. You have not explained the gap. Is the gap created by the table top not matching the grooved opening or is the table top too small to fit the opening even though it is inside of the groove. The fix will depend on whether it is out of line vertically or out of line horizontally. A picture would be nice.
