How can I calculate how many cups are in 2 pounds of coffee beans?

First, I convert from pounds to grams: 2 pounds = 907 grams. The standard for a cup of coffee is 6 oz. of water. The recommended amount (by some sources) is about 28 grams of ground coffee per cup. I find that much too strong. I use a conical burr grinder, and 40 grams of coffee beans to make a 10 cup pot. At 4 grams per cup, as made, I would get about 225 cups of coffee out of 2 pounds of beans.

There is some kind of a “standard” for high end coffee that uses 10 g of ground coffee per 150 mL cup (just over 5 fl oz). In my drip coffee maker, that is waytoo strong. I use 6 g per 150 mL cup, and most people think my coffee is strong. That gives around 151 cups from 2 lb.However, it depends on your taste preference, your coffee, your grinder, and your coffee brewer. At the recommended 10 g, only 90 cups.

I am guessing you want to know how many cups of liquid coffee can be brewed using 2 pounds of coffee beans.

If so, I suggest you weigh the amount of ground coffee used to make a pot, divide that by the number of cups in a pot to determine the weight of dry coffee that yields one cup. If you then divide the 2 pound weight by the weight per cup, the product will be the cups per 2 pound can.

Start with a pound of coffee. Make a pot of coffee. Work out how many cups that pot represents.

Now weigh the beans you have left. Calculate how much coffee you used to make that many cups.

Work out how many pots that pound would make now bloody hell this is trucking stupid

\if you need to ask this question you have no brain and will be unable to use the answer anyway.

Once you have worked out how many pots can be made, and from that how many cups can be made from one pound, double it because the original question asked about 2 lbs.

Do you mean How many cups of coffee can be brewed from a pound of coffee beans?

You can look up how much a cup of coffee beans weighs, and multiply by two. This will very with whether the beans have been rosted or ground, and how much moisture it contains.

If you are actually interested in the answer rather than how it is calculated ask Google “how many cups in two pounds of coffee beans?” 164 is the number of cups it makes.

It depends on the density of your substance! Because cups are a measure of volume and pounds are a measure of weight, there isn’t a direct conversion between the two. For example, two cups of rocks wouldn’t weigh the same as two cups of cotton. The rocks would be heavier, because they have higher density.

So, if we wanted to calculate how many cups are in two pounds and we know the density, we just solve our equation x cups * y pounds/cup = 2 pounds for x !

Hope this helps! Reach out if you need a little bit more explanation, and I’d be happy to add to my answer 🙂
