I couldn’t get a direct answer anywhere whether Walgreens will recycle pill bottles. They list many health care aids & what to do with them.
Pill bottles can be tossed in standard recycle bins. But there are other useful ideas.
Some fellow parishioners at our church found a program that collected the bottles. They would send to third world countries to be used for pills.
My wife saved them for a friend that worked for the zoo. They used them for urine & fecal samples. They recently switched to inexpensive bags for this purpose.
Another program my wife collects for is Buddy Bench. It’s one of a few groups that take pill bottles & plastic caps to melt down for a bench. Many schools and other groups are involved with this great recycling idea!
Yes. Especially in poor areas. Just go up to the pharmacist and ask, and if they say no. Just tell them that they are wrong and bgg they have to sell you some. 😉
No. They would have to be run through an autoclave and cleaned at 250°. It takes a while to run the cycle & would cost entirely to much money to operate. It’d be nice to reuse perfectly good bottles but the cost to operate it would be passed to the consumer. They will have them turned in for recycling though but just ask them first.
