  1. Not sure if coffee grounds increase iron level. But the University of Florida did a study several years back with used coffee grounds by dumping them around king sago palms and it killed the asian scale that was on them. Starbucks used to give people there used grounds for there gardens, not sure if they do anymore.

  2. Adding coffee grounds to your soil or composting pile is always a good idea. Don’t waste the grounds by throwing them in the trash. Coffee grounds have nearly a perfect pH level for the growth of plants and it is a ready source for Nitrogen, Potassium, and other minerals. However, there is no Iron in coffee.

  4. “No, coffee grounds or tea leaves don’t increase iron levels. They make the soil acidic which is beneficial for flowering plants like hibiscus, rose, etc. If you want to improve the iron level of the garden soil then the best method is to add chelated iron.”

  5. Not that you would notice. Iron (along with aluminum) is already one of the most common elements in soil, especially in red clay, because iron and aluminum don’t readily leach out. I compost tree leaves and all waste from my vegetable garden and I have never heard of any warning about excess iron. Remember that legumes and spinach leaves are very rich in iron, and no gardener I know would object to beans or spinach leaves in compost.
