Yes they do. They do it for theft and loss protection reasons. You cannot return anything without a receipt. They take your I’d as well. They do keep record’s. As long as you are exchanging without a receipt you should be ok. And they might give you a store credit. But if you are constantly in the store trying this security will be notified. As you can sell gift card’s.
No.
It is taken for granted that, because so many items sold at such stores are unique, people will buy things they aren’t sure will work in order to not miss out. It is expected that there will be a high volume of returns, and effort is made to insure that returns are as easy as possible.
As long as the customer abides by the return policy, no one will think anything about it.
At least at TJ Maxx we do. Whenever there is a return without a receipt we need to take the customers drivers license. And after typing in the license number, if the customer has done X amount of returns without receipts all of their information will be saved into the system. At this point we get a coordinator or manager involved. If there’s a chance the product is stolen or isn’t ours, the manager says the system won’t allow us to refund them. Then we alert Loss prevention, so they’ll keep an eye out for them. And that’s partly the reason why we offer both an email and printed copies of the receipt. To both ensure that people are less likely to lose the receipt and get their money back on their card or cash. AND to help spot shoplifters.
Pretty much all major retailers track customer returns. 99.9999999% of the time the tracking is done so they can verify that the right item was returned, the right money was returned to the right card and the like.
However, companies do also have a provision that allows them deny returns if a customer has committed enough ‘red flag’ returns to warrant it. The exact qualifications of a red flag return vary from company to company and how many red flag returns need to be tracked before a customer is denied a return also varies wildly from company to company. But I’ve never worked for a company that had a policy such that you could be an honest …
At all TJX stores, it’s in our sytem, but the store itself will not track an individual’s returns and cannot go back and see all history of returns.
Yes! Especially if it smells like stinky perfume and smoke!
I had a customer do this in a boutique I worked in. We happened to be at the same club over the weekend and she was smoking and drinking and it smelled so bad. I finally told her that Monday when she went to bring it back “because it didn’t fit right”, I told that the owner of the store and myself saw you at blah blah blah and you had no problem getting around in it. NO, YOU MAY LONGER RETURN OUTFITS. MAKE SURE THEY FIT BEFORE YOU BUY!
Yes, companies do keep track. Some stores make sure the tags are still on the items. If they are you have to make the return.
I had a friend who goes to a lot of black tie events and he see the tags tucked into the back of dresses. This way they can air them out and return. The smart people put armpit guards in the armpit so deodorants don’t stain the gowns.

Yes they do track you purchases and returns. There is a limit habitual returns. They will deny any returns you try to do.
I can’t answer for sure but I would think they would if they don’t have a receipt to try not to say they stole it but to keep up with it to make sure it was paid for where I work you have up to ninety days on some items alot of times you lose them no one is perfect .but if I return something let’s say every two or three days without a reciept yes it looks like you would be stealing it I think you can return like three items in a years time then they will not let you .without a reciept.

Yes. All retail stores track their returns and if you frequently return to tjmaxx they keep your information on file especially if you do it without a receipt.
Absolutely! Almost all modern Loss Prevention departments track Returns in painstaking detail.
They may or they may not, it depends on what their policy is. Everything is on computer now, so I suppose they can keep track of returns. Excessive returns will be questioned if it is tracked. That being the case, they may refuse to refund any purchase price, if that happens.
I cannot say for certain but I do know of few companies who Asset Protection does keep tabs on frequent returners.
They may not track individual customers, but they track returns. All I know is my TJ Maxx credit card is a dangerous thing to have.

If you’re doing it repeatedly their loss prevention department might take a justifiably closer look at you.
