  1. Can you make a coffee-like beverage out of other beans, like black beans, red beans, chocolate beans, vanilla beans, peanuts, etc.?

The only item in the this of various bean types your question that is not a bean , is coffee. Coffee beans are actually not beans, they’re seeds.
Coffee comes from seed of the coffee cherry, the fruit of the coffee plant. Coffee cherry seeds are processed, washed, dried, roasted, ground, and brewed, to achieve the beverage we know as coffee.
The question might be reframed then, to ask:
Can you make a coffee-like beverage out of other fruit seeds?

  2. There are many things you can make a hot beverage with but they won’t taste like coffee. Bean is a term for many kinds of plant seeds and the species of plant the bean came from would make a difference. Beans from the Phaseolus family that aren’t thoroughly cooked are poisonous so you wouldn’t want to use black or red beans. Other species that have “beans” might also be dangerous. People already make a beverage from cacoa or chocolate beans, it’s called hot chocolate. Carob has also been used as a hot drink. I think you could probably soak vanilla beans in hot water with no problems but I doubt peanuts would make a good drink. I have heard of using ground hazelnuts. You can use the roots of common chicory for a coffee substitute. And of course there are many kinds of herbal teas you can make.

  3. Coffee is not a bean, it’s the seed of the fruit of the coffee plant. Also, it’s dried and roasted before making coffee. Short answer: No!

  4. I think not. Coffee beans are not actually a bean at all – they are called a bean because they look like a bean but actually they are the pit of a fruit – the coffee cherry. That doesn’t mean that you could not make a vaguely coffee like drink from a bean since the closest drink to coffee that anyone has come up with so far is chicory coffee, made from the roasted root of the chicory plant. Cocoa is a little coffee-like (it does have a small amount of caffeine) and that *is* a bean. Most true beans – legumes – would make a vile liquid if roasted and extracted – imagine burned black bean soup.
