  1. Chia seeds are highly recommended. There are no calories and it is an ideal way to maintain gut health and prop up the digestive tract while fasting.

  2. It isn’t good to consume anything if you are fasting. However, if you must consume something keep it under 30 calories to stay in a fasted state.
I believe a serving of Chia seeds is about 150 calories so that would definitely break your fast.

  3. No. They contain calories from fiber and good fat. Calories break a fast. A true fast is water only. Small amounts of black coffee or unsweetened tea are permissible as well.

  4. There are differing opinions. Some say that chia seeds, being essentially entirely fiber, do not cause any insulin response and the body will continue as if you’d eaten nothing. Others say eating anything can bring the body out of pure fasting and stop autophagy. Some counsel to take chia seeds with medication during fasting if those medications are required to be taken with food. It just depends on what results you want and whether chia seeds seem to be hindering those results.

  5. The first thing to be considered during “interment fasting” is that to keep the insulin levels low.
Chia seeds are called super foods and if u think u can consume black coffee n think ur not breaking fast then u can go ahead and have chia seeds. Chia seeds don’t spike insulin levels so you can consume limited amount of chia seeds!!!
    ignore my grammatical errors.

  6. There are differing opinions when it comes to fasting but one that has a lot of supporters is the fact that anything that contains calories will break an average fast.
Chia seeds contain calories, thus they break your fast.
I would research the type of fasting protocol you are aiming for and then align this with what you do and do not want to achieve.
At the end of the day, what matters most is doing a fast to feel better and be healthier. If this is not your outcome then it doesn’t matter what breaks or doesn’t break it.
